Sonja Keppler (1988)

In addition to a keen interest in art history, jewellery and object design played a major role in Sonja Keppler's artistic training, as she first completed a bachelor's degree in this field at Pforzheim University from 2014 to 2020. However, she also developed an interest in sculptural work in the broader sense at a very early stage, and this soon became the focus of her creative work. A practical semester in sculpture with Prof. Abraham David Christian in 2018-2019 proved to be formative, and even while she was continuing her academic studies with work on materials research and technical processes for her master's degree in ‘Design and Future Making’ (2023), her sculptural work was already being exhibited regularly. The objects from Keppler's ‘Wesenheiten’ (Beings) series appear natural and self-evident despite their artistic design; they seem like symbols of foreign yet related archaic cultures.
