The largest domestic gamebird grows nearly as large as a turkey. It is seldom seen in the wild nowadays, for this wary bird needs vast, largely untouched forest areas to live in. Hence its numbers have dropped dramatically in central Europe in recent years; the wood grouse has long been on the list of endangered species. This bronze shows the wood grouse in all its beauty and majesty. It is life size and full of lifelike details, although it is not at all as wary as its wild counterparts and demands far less room as a habitat. This specimen finds even a just few square metres ample.
