The garden fairy is, in a sense, the successor to the ancient goddess Flora, who was responsible for ensuring that flowers sprouted from the ground in spring wherever she set foot with her dance. As a creature from the world of fantasy, however, the garden fairy has a broader remit: she dances in the garden all year round, watching over everything that blooms and sprouts, flies or crawls there – here with a butterfly in her hands, another winged creature dancing through the garden.
