The “Lesende” (Reader) combines sculpture and book. Between the pedestal with the inscription: “Anna Amalia Bibliothek” and the likeness of the reader is an old original volume with a size of approx. 5 x 40 x 27 cm (the book is one of a kind, therefore the supplied artwork differs slightly from the picture). With the purchase of the “Lesende” you will support the library’s continuing book restoration work with a sum of € 750.
Edition in bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, chased and patinated by hand.
Milan Drew received his artistic training as a painter and sculptor from 1957 to 1965 in Kiel, Hamburg, Berlin and London. He was a master student at the University of the Arts Berlin and at times (1965 - 1966) assistant to the great Henry Moore.
