The enemy: the stopwatch. Time trial is a lonely business – Torsten Mücke shows it as a fight against himself. His “time rider” is trying to win the victory against the clock and himself.
Speed is almost inscribed on this sculpture: With his head bent down, Mücke’s “time rider” is chasing his next record.
Edition in bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, chased and patinated by hand. Limited to 299 numbered and signed copies.
Torsten Mücke is a trained goldsmith and chaser. His art could be described as "art of omission". Mücke is a sculptor who reduces his designs step by step to just the essentials, through this he is able to penetrate to the artistic core. It is his precise eye for the essentials that allows him to remain representational.
