Helge Leiberg (1954)

Helge Leiberg, born in Dresden in 1954, studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. Music is a recurring theme in the work of this multimedia artist, who has realised numerous music projects with A. R. Penck, among others.
Helge Leiberg's world of paintings and sculptures consists of symbolic figures, slender, with elongated limbs and expansive gestures. Their dance-like movements reveal pure life: sometimes self-absorbed, sometimes interacting, they express affection and aversion, struggle and union.
His masterful lines and virtuoso depiction of movement characterise his work. Leiberg draws inspiration from the mutual influence of painting, dance and music. His works can be found in the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, the Würth Collection and many other public and private collections.
